Nachtmann

Now part of the Riedel Glass Works, it is with pride that Nachtmann looks back on 170 years of history in the successful development of their lead crystal. The Nachtmann plant in Weiden is Europe’s most modern glass factory using primarily electrical energy that is regarded as the most environmentally friendly method of our day. In 2001Nachtmann was certified in accordance with DIN ISO 14001. It is the only company in the lead crystal and crystal glass industry to obtain this certification to date and is recognized for its commitment to the establishment and introduction of an environmental management system.

A total of 1,650 employees are involved in the artistic design and craftsmanship of magnificent lead crystal products. During production great value is placed on top quality standards, the finest raw materials and especially environmentally friendly technology. The results are the flawless perfection of the glass accent pieces.

1991

Nachtmann entered into a production cooperation with Rosenthal AG, Selb, with the founding of the crystal glass factory Amberg GmbH where Nachtmann handled the technical and commercial management.

1993

Nachtmann KG was reorganized as a stock corporation.

1995

F.X. Nachtmann Crystal AG took over Rosenthal AG’s shares in the Amberg crystal glass factory and has held a capital share of nearly 90% since July 1997.

2001

Certified as a company with an extensive environmental protection program in accordance with DIN ISO 14001.

2004

On September 17th, Riedel Glas took over 100% of the shares of the Nachtmann Crystal AG.
